The truth is, dentists have known for a long time that a mouthguard picked up from a chemist or supermarket is far inferior to a custom made mouthguard, but there wasn’t much evidence to support that. Until now.
A recent publication by the Academy of Sports Dentistry have concluded that a mouthguard made by a dentist is far superior, providing protection for your teeth, gum tissue and the supporting bone. Unfortunately, off the shelf mouthguards do not provide the same level of protection and put yourself or your child at risk of serious injury.
