Amy has been a Dental Hygienist at our practice since 2002. Her interest in dental health started when she worked in the practice as a dental assistant. This experience enhanced Amy’s interest in dental hygiene and, after completing her Bachelor of Arts at Macquarie University, she went on to complete her Diploma of Dental Hygiene in South Australia. Amy also has Dental Radiography and Dental Health Education qualifications through TAFE NSW.

Amy has been a clinical tutor for both Dental and Oral Health students at the University of Sydney, and is currently tutoring for students undertaking the Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Newcastle. Amy was Secretary of the Dental Hygienists’ Association of Australia (NSW Branch) for six years. She has also travelled to Timor to provide dental treatment to remote village communities.

Her professional interests relate to the prevention of dental disease through dental hygiene treatment. Amy suggests the technological advancements in dentistry and the improved understanding of dental disease allows nearly all dental disease to be prevented through hygiene treatment and dental education.

The greatest strength of the practice according to Amy is its honest and conservative approach to dental treatment which always places the patient’s interests as a priority.
